• Which hearing device brands do you offer?

  We’re proudly independent and locally owned — which means we’re free to put your needs first.
  
  We work with all the world’s leading and reputable hearing aid brands, including GN, Starkey, Phonak, Oticon, Signia and Widex, so you’ll never be limited in your choices.
  
  During your assessment, we take the time to understand not just your hearing, but also your lifestyle and preferences. Then we recommend and tailor the device that we can best customise to suit your requirements.

• What are Ear Studio’s staff qualifications?

  Ear Studio only employs Audiometrists and Audiologists with a minimum of 5 years’ real world experience in the field. We do not employ students or graduates.

   

  As of August, 2025 our team consists of four practitioners with 58 years’ shared experience in the industry.

   

  All our practitioners are insured and members of professional bodies regulating the industry.

• Are the hearing aids customised to my specific needs?

  Yes — every hearing solution provided by Ear Studio is fitted just for you. We use your real ear measurements and other personalised tests to make sure your devices are fitted to your specific hearing loss.

   

  We also consider your daily environments and listening situations — whether it’s quiet conversations at home or busy cafés — so your hearing aids perform at their best in the moments that matter most to you.

• Will I be able to wear these hearing aids all day comfortably?

  Absolutely! Most patients forget they are wearing them after a short time. This is the benefit of custom made devices that fit your ears only.

   

  During our process we take an impression of your ear which is then scanned with a 3D laser scanner before producing 3D printed moulds for your ear.

   

  While it does take a little while for the ear to get used to, it is not long until you will forget you even have them in your ears.

• How do I get started with your hearing solutions?

  The first step – and the most important appointment in the hearing care journey – is a comprehensive hearing assessment.

   

  We are not talking about a 15 minute quick check here. Our assessment takes around 90 minutes and takes into account all aspects of your hearing situation.

  We perform a very detailed measurement of your hearing function, mechanical middle ear status, speech understanding in quiet and in noise and when sounds are getting too loud for you.

   

  From there we take emotional and social impacts of your hearing loss into account and also consider non-auditory factors such as dexterity and vision.

   

  Following the hearing assessment – normally around one week later – we meet with you again for a thorough discussion for around an hour. This is to go through the possible options, expected results with and without hearing devices, then together we come to a conclusion if hearing devices are the right choice for you.

• Are there any hidden fees or extra costs?

  All costs will be explained in the discussion process and you will be given written documentation on how they relate to each other.

   

  In simple terms, the whole cost can be broken down into three categories:

  1. The initial fitting fee ($2,300)
  2. The cost for devices ($6,000-$10,000)
  3. The maintenance plan ($590 per year)

   

  After the first year, you can choose to extend or not to extend the maintenance plan.

   

  The cost of the maintenance plan covers appointments, consumables, warranty extension and more. You will receive a detailed quote before you commit.

• What if I'm not satisfied with my hearing aids?

  We take great care during the fitting process to ensure a positive outcome with your new devices.

   

  This is a 6 week program to ensure we do the very best and follow best practices to the letter.

   

  Should you – despite our greatest efforts – not achieve a good outcome and are not satisfied with the products, we will return the hearing devices and refund you the full amount of them.

• Is Ear Studio considered an expensive provider?

  No. We are competitive and definitely not the most expensive clinic around. We are, however, not on the “low budget” end of town if that’s what you’re looking for.

   

  It’s important to remember that we work according to best practice principles for a better outcome for you.

   

  This means we only provide devices from mid-range manufacturers and above. Lower-tier devices do not give us the required control and flexibility to adjust devices according to your needs and the standards we apply. We focus on the private market for individuals just like you who expect the very best.

   

  We are confident that the service we provide and outcomes we achieve are consistent with the investment you’ll make in your hearing. Our treatment programs have been designed with that safeguard in mind.

   

  Should we not achieve the outcomes we know are possible, or should you not find that it meets you personal standards, we will refund the device charges within 6 weeks of your purchase.

• Does Ear Studio provide services to pensioners, veterans or injured workers?

  Ear Studio is a private practice providing hearing services at the highest possible level.

   

  We no longer hold a contract with Hearing Services Program of the Australian government or with the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA). Therefore, we do not provide subsidised services to pensioners, veterans or injured workers covered under SIRA.

   

  If you are eligible for such subsidies but you value the highest hearing outcomes above all else, we can provide our services to you privately no problem at all.

• What about long-term aftercare?

  Best practices stipulate that to maintain your hearing outcomes at the best possible levels, that you should see the hearing care practitioner at least twice a year.

   

  Ear Studio offers maintenance plans which include three appointments per year and extended warranty including consumables.

   

  Maintaining hearing devices is much like maintaining a motor-vehicle – regular services and reviews are crucial.

• How long do hearing aids typically last?

  You’ll experience noticeable improvements in just 7 days, with clearer speech, reduced background noise, and overall enhanced hearing quality, allowing you to enjoy daily conversations effortlessly.

• How does the rehabilitation process work?

  Our process will be explained in detail during your consultation, but here are the most important points for your reference:

   

  • Initial Fitting: During your 90 minute fitting appointment, we will set the hearing aids up to meet the requirements of best practices and explain how everything is managed.
  • Follow Up Appointments: Over the course of 6 weeks we will have three 60 minute follow-up appointments to ensure you’re achieving the desired outcomes, answer your questions and make further adjustments to support your rehabilitation.
  • First 12 Months: For the first 12 months you’ll have a further 3 sessions (ie. every 4 months) to help us monitor your progress and to maintain your devices and hearing outcomes at the best possible levels so you continue to enjoy clear hearing.
